Notizie storico-critiche

The blueprint includes the elevation at a 1:50 scale, as well as a technical section of the same elevation labeled “Perfil E.F.”. The floor plan is drawn at a 1:100 scale and corresponds to the main floor level (piano nobile). Also at a 1:100 scale, the sectional drawing “Seccão A.B.C.” is included. The entire representation is rendered with a uniform line weight, except for the ground line, which is drawn with a heavier stroke. Differences from the current state are noticeable, particularly in the presence of an entrance marked by a portico with a column on the right side, and in the openings on the lower part, which are shown with arched forms and decorative grilles featuring geometric motifs. The decorative elements are depicted in a manner similar to the built version, but on closer inspection, several differences become apparent: a discrepancy in the consistency and sequence of moldings; on the left side of the façade, there is a recessed area at the window, emphasized by the contour of the cornice—an element that does not exist in the built version, where the façade presents itself instead as a flat macro-element. The same applies to the pilasters in the central section, which in the drawing extend all the way to the ground. Some elements of the representation seem more symbolic than literal, as seen in the depiction of the small balustrades at the window on the left and the portico on the right, where even the roof appears to be rendered only on one face and with an unrealistically thin profile. The “A.B.C.” section is marked on the plan as a zigzag section and is characterized by an unusual graphical representation, making the relationship between plan and elevation difficult to interpret. Some elements appear to be sectioned synchronously behind others shown in projection, particularly in the area of the entrance portico, where the roof structure is fully cut through; similarly, on the right side, the section seems to slice through a less deep plane than indicated by the section line. Between these two parts, there is a space whose nature is unclear—whether it is part of the façade or an interior section—resulting in a loss of alignment between plan and elevation.
