Notizie storico-critiche
- The blueprint of Casa Peccioli presents a clear spatial division between the commercial and residential functions of the building, spread across two floors and designed to accommodate both public and private activities. The ground floor (1° Pavimento) was originally conceived for commercial use, hosting a large "Salão" that dominates the layout. Measuring approximately 9.70m in width and 11.20m in depth, the hall is organized around a central structural grid with four visible columns and a dedicated entry sequence. A separate office room labeled “Escritório” is positioned at the rear, accessible via a controlled passage that suggests administrative or managerial use, emphasizing the building’s role as a commercial headquarters. The second floor (2° Pavimento) serves as a private residential space and exhibits a more intricate and compartmentalized layout. The floor plan includes multiple “Dormitórios” (bedrooms), two bathrooms, a kitchen (“Cozinha”), a dining room (“S. Jantar”), and utility rooms such as a pantry (“Desp.”) and storage. The presence of a designated “Sala de visitas” (visitor’s room) reflects the family's social status and hospitality customs. Notably, a terrace (“Terraço”) at the rear creates an open-air buffer between the private quarters and the service areas, providing both ventilation and light. The angled lot and chamfered corner define a unique urban geometry, resulting in a plan with three street-facing façades. Circulation between floors is handled by a central staircase placed towards the rear of the building, ensuring separation between public (ground) and private (upper) zones. The blueprint not only reveals the functional sophistication of the project but also reflects the lifestyle and commercial ambitions of the Peccioli family in early 20th-century Jaú.
